The Pedrestian

I think the theme of "The Pedestrian", by Ray Bradbury, is that we should be cautious about technology & be aware of how much technology is playing part in gradually taking over our  our lives. Bradbury demonstrates the message of the theme with the setting and plot. For example, the story is set in the future in what he describes as a technology-controlled universe where everyone is blinded by technology. However the main character of Mr. Mead seems to be the diamond in the rough in this sheep society, because he is able to overlook the distracting world of technology and see the world through diffrent eyes. With (Mead) later being arrested just for walking, the author creates a connection with the theme in the sense that technology is greatly influencing our society to think and act a certain way because if u act different you'll be considered insane. The tone of the story is very cautionary and confusing. Because machines control the humans and everything is quite stranger and opposite if what would be thought as normal like walking on the streets .
* I think people don't really walk in 2018 because throughout the years people have gotten lazier and lazier or are too busy on their phones to get a time out and take a revitalizing walk. I think technology such as self-driving cars, screen viewers, smart phones, & earbuds lead to more isolation overall because with all the neww cool technology nobody really takes the time to enjoy the little things in life and acknowledge their surroundings.
