what i see in literature
Some examples of imagery that help explain the themes in The Great Gatsby & Prufrock :
-"To prepare a face to meet the faces that you meet;
There will be time to murder and create,
And time for all the works and days of hands
That lift and drop a question on your plate;
Time for you and time for me,
And time yet for a hundred indecisions,
And for a hundred visions and revisions"
* This helps explain the theme in Prufrock, because it's telling the reader how the author is seeking love and no matter how long it takes, when you find love it'll be worth it, just never forget who you really are.
-"In the room the women come and go
Talking of Michelangelo."
* This helps explain both the themes in Gatsby and Prufrock in a sense that it explains how women are complex as hell and you can never really tell what they want, and men are hesitant to ask because they're afraid of what will happen they rather just live in an illusion of what they think can happen.
-"Shall I part my hair behind? Do I dare to eat a peach?
I shall wear white flannel trousers, and walk upon the beach."
* This line also helps explain the themes in both Gatsby and Prufrock, because it shows how these men act in order to get what they really want, and what they do to impress women.
